CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design (B. Des) is a four years duration, 200 credit under-graduate degree programme of Vishwakarma University (VU) Pune, The domain of Interior Space Design helps industry, commercial and residential establishment to optimize the use of space, light, water and energy. The growing industry requires the maximum production in small space and safety of employees. The growing population requires the housing design to encompass their lifestyle.

This programme is aimed at creating professionals who can contribute to the highly dynamic and ever changing world of civil industry, architecture industry and lifestyle of human life. The curriculum is designed to optimize traditional skills with ever changing industry changes and challenging lifestyle. Foundation Programme comprises of Semester 1 and 2 and is common for all disciplines of B. Des Programme. Students study specializations in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year. Programme offers the blend of practical and theoretical knowledge.

PEO1: Prepare graduates for careers in, but not limited to - the design residential, commercial and industrial spaces

PEO2: Familiarize students with, Graphics & software.

PEO3: Provide a good grounding in the Construction Technology, Design Studio and Psychology Of Space And Behavioral Science

PEO4: Prepare students to undertake further study at doctoral level.

The method of instruction (pedagogy or teaching-learning processes) shall be determined by the requirements of a course, the learning objectives, learning outcomes & the learner’s context. However, the following methods of instruction shall be commonly used: Lecture Sessions, Practical, Simulations, Field Work, Group Exercises, Projects, Self-Learning Materials (SLMs), Self-study, Seminars, Study Tours, Training Programmes, Workshops.

During semester II, students are encouraged to opt for dissertation in lieu of a generic elective course. During semester III and IV, as a part of generic core courses, students are required to take up live projects in an industry to align their theoretical knowledge and its application. Industry based live projects allow students to gain valuable work experience while they’re still studying in college. They pave way for self-empowerment through skill building and hands-on-training.
